Family Holiday Celebration a Great Success!

In 2010, the 3rd Annual Family Holiday Celebration entertained hundreds of families from near and far away. Friday night kicked off the festivities with the Greater Wildwood Jaycees Christmas Parade. The streets were lined with families as lots of fun and creative holiday floats passed by. The children enjoyed waiting for candy to be thrown to them, but more importantly, to see the arrival of Santa. The parade came to an end at the Wildwoods Convention Center where everyone gathered around the Christmas trees to countdown to the official lighting ceremony. Santa

The crowds then entered the Wildwoods Convention Center to mingle, enjoy free cookies and hot cocoa, and wait for the announcement of the parade winners. Trophies were awarded by divisions for the best parade floats.

The celebration continued all day Saturday inside the Wildwoods Convention Center lobby. There was plenty of fun for the old and young alike. There were many crafters offering unique holiday gift items and lots of free family holiday movies that played throughout the day. Many children went from room to room to watch back-to-back movies! Families enjoyed listening and singing along to their favorite holiday songs that were performed by various local school choruses. The little ones enjoyed having their face painted and watching balloon artists make creative figures.

Children were so excited when Santa arrived! They lined up to sit on his lap, read their Christmas list, and have their picture taken with him. They were also amazed with the magic show, the gymnastics and cheer performance, and the martial arts performance. The day ended with an incredible routine by the Avalon String Band.

This event truly was a family festivity as hundreds of families gathered to celebrate the holiday season. Thank you to the sponsors who were able to make this event a huge success: Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority, Crest Savings Bank, Greater Wildwood Jaycees, and The Coast 98.7 WCZT. This event has been a huge success and will surely be an annual family tradition for years to come!
